CRACKER BARREL REPORTS FOURTH QUARTER FISCAL 2022 RESULTS AND PROVIDES FISCAL 2023 OUTLOOK
Cracker Barrel (CBRL) reported fourth quarter fiscal 2022 results with total revenue of $830.4 million, a 5.9% increase year-over-year. Comparable store restaurant sales rose 6.1% while retail sales increased 3.0%. GAAP net income was $33.4 million, an 8.2% decrease from the prior year. The company declared a quarterly dividend of $1.30 per share, payable on November 8, 2022. For fiscal 2023, Cracker Barrel anticipates revenue growth of 7% to 8% and expects commodity inflation of approximately 8%.

Fourth Quarter Fiscal 2022 Highlights
- The Company reported fourth quarter total revenue of
$830.4 million . Compared to the prior year fourth quarter, total revenue increased5.9% . - Comparable store restaurant sales increased
6.1% , while comparable store retail sales increased3.0% . - GAAP operating income for the fourth quarter was
$33.0 million , or4.0% of total revenue, and adjusted1 operating income was$36.2 million , or4.4% of total revenue. - GAAP net income was
$33.4 million , or4.0% of total revenue. EBITDA1 was$62.4 million , or7.5% of total revenue. - GAAP earnings per diluted share were
$1.47 , and adjusted1 earnings per diluted share were$1.57 . - The Company paid

In the accompanying press release, the Company makes reference to its fourth quarter fiscal 2021 and fiscal 2022 adjusted operating income and earnings per share. In regards to fiscal 2021, this reconciliation excludes the gain on sale of assets from the sale and leaseback transaction that closed in the first quarter, non-cash amortization of the asset recognized from the gains on the sale and leaseback transactions, interest expense related to the termination of interest rate swaps and the convertible senior notes offering carried out in the fourth quarter, expenses related to the proxy contest initiated by affiliates of Sardar Biglari in connection with the Company's 2020 annual meeting of shareholders, and the related tax impacts of these items. In regard to fiscal 2022, this reconciliation excludes non-cash amortization of the asset recognized from the gains on the sale and leaseback transactions and the related tax impact.
