- Meridian Corporation reports positive Q2 2023 financial results with net income of $4.6 million and diluted earnings per share of $0.41. Second-quarter commercial loan growth was $27.4 million, or 7.2% annualized. Second-quarter deposit growth was $12.2 million, or 2.8% annualized. The company repurchased 127,849 shares of its common stock during the second quarter. A quarterly cash dividend of $0.125 per common share was declared.

$4.6 million and diluted earnings per share of$0.41 for the second quarter ended June 30, 2023. - Return on average assets and return on average equity for the second quarter of 2023 were
0.86% and12.08% , respectively. - Net interest margin was
3.33% for the second quarter of 2023, with loan yield of6.89% . - Total assets at June 30, 2023 were
$2.2 billion , compared to$2.2 billion at March 31, 2023 and$1.9 billion at June 30, 2022. - Second quarter commercial loan growth was
$27.4 million , or7.2% annualized; residential and home equity loans increased by$14.2 million on a combined basis, or18.9% annualized. - Second quarter deposit growth was
$12.2 million , or2.8% annualized. - Non-interest bearing deposits were up
$6.5 million , or10% annualized. - The Company repurchased 127,849 shares of its common stock at an average price of

Despite increased hiring of mortgage loan officers, the lack of homes for sale limits production. Another factor is the thousands of homes purchased by investors and private equity over the past 10 years, being rented and not available for sale. We will continue to monitor the impact of market conditions on our mortgage operations and are prepared to make further adjustments if warranted."
