Intel has appointed two semiconductor industry veterans to its board of directors: Eric Meurice, former president, CEO, and chairman of ASML Holding, and Steve Sanghi, chairman and interim CEO of Microchip Technology. Both will serve as independent directors.
Meurice led ASML from 2004 to 2013, during which the company's market value increased five-fold. He was key in establishing ASML's Customer Co-Investment Program for next-generation lithography technologies. Sanghi led Microchip Technology as CEO from 1991 to 2021, achieving 121 consecutive quarters of profitability and growing the company's market value from $10 million to approximately $44 billion.

Meurice served as president and chief executive officer of ASML from 2004 to 2013. During his tenure, ASML’s market value increased five-fold. He was also instrumental in establishing ASML’s Customer Co-Investment Program, under which Intel and others agreed to invest in ASML’s research and development of next-generation lithography technologies, including extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography. Prior to ASML, Meurice served as executive vice president of Thomson’s TV division. He also held various leadership roles at Dell, ITT Semiconductors and Intel.
