Insights

Blade Air Mobility's new partnership with Ocean Casino Resort to offer helicopter flights between Manhattan and Atlantic City represents a strategic expansion into the leisure travel market. Market Research Analyst would observe that Blade is capitalizing on a growing demand for convenient and luxurious travel options. By pricing the seats at $695 each way, Blade is targeting high-net-worth individuals and potentially increasing revenue during peak summer months. While this service could enhance brand visibility and customer experience, it's essential to monitor if this aligns with broader consumer travel trends and spending behaviors within the luxury segment.

From a financial perspective, Blade’s partnership with Ocean Casino Resort could be a profitable venture if managed effectively. The Financial Analyst would consider the revenue potential from the $695 seat pricing and high passenger turnover during summer weekends. However, it's critical to weigh the operational costs, including helicopter maintenance, fuel and staffing. This initiative might also shift market perception, positioning Blade as a premium service provider, potentially impacting its market share in the urban air mobility sector. Additionally, investors should consider the broader economic implications, such as the impact of fuel prices and regulatory changes, which may affect profitability.

In the context of the travel industry, Blade’s new service could set a precedent for luxury travel between major urban centers and popular leisure destinations. A Travel Industry Expert would highlight that this collaboration could drive traffic to Ocean Casino Resort, enhancing its appeal as a premium destination. The convenience of direct helicopter flights, coupled with the high-end customer service and amenities like complimentary champagne, underscores a growing trend towards experiential travel. However, the sustainability of such services remains a question, considering environmental concerns and the volatility of luxury travel demand.

BLADE Scheduled Helicopter Service Will Run From Memorial Day Weekend Through Labor Day

NEW YORK, May 16, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Blade Air Mobility, Inc. (Nasdaq: BLDE, “Blade”), a global Urban Air Mobility company, announced its partnership with Ocean Casino Resort (“Ocean”) to fly Ocean’s guests by helicopter directly between Manhattan and Ocean’s dedicated rooftop helipad in Atlantic City all summer long.

Guests can book seats for $695 each way, beginning on Saturday, May 25, and every Saturday and Sunday in July and August through Labor Day Weekend.

“This is a natural extension for Blade to complement its leisure and airport routes in the Northeast,” said Roisin Branch, Chief Marketing Officer of BLADE. “We have seen a meaningful increase in charter requests from Manhattan to Atlantic City and are excited to make the flights accessible to a broader audience over the summer.”

Passengers will enjoy a seamless 40-minute flight from Blade Lounge West in Manhattan to Ocean’s newly constructed helipad located on the roof of Ocean, where an Ocean team member will meet them upon arrival, with dedicated concierge service during their stay and a complimentary suite upgrade.

Moët & Chandon is Ocean’s official champagne partner for this launch, and every passenger who books a flight will receive a complimentary bottle of Moët Imperial champagne.

“We are pleased to be partnering with Blade to launch Ocean’s by-the-seat helicopter service throughout the summer,” said Bill Callahan, General Manager for Ocean. “Our customers have enjoyed privately chartered trips by Blade since we built our helipad last year, however, adding a best-in-class travel experience that allows for individual seat purchases provides yet another fantastic amenity to our award-winning beachfront resort.”
