Verizon expands high-speed internet across Maryland
Verizon Expands Fios Access in Maryland
Verizon is rolling out high-speed Fios internet service to nearly 4,000 new households and businesses in underserved areas of Maryland. The $26 million initiative, supported by $11 million from the American Rescue Plan Act and $14 million from Verizon, aims to enhance digital connectivity.
The project will deploy over 500 miles of fiber, providing symmetrical speeds ranging from 300Mbps to 2Gbps. This significant upgrade is expected to connect over one-third of unserved addresses in the state. Additionally, the Affordable Connectivity Program will enable low-income households to access discounted internet services.
With plans starting as low as $25 per month, Verizon’s Fios service emphasizes affordability and accessibility, contributing to closing the digital divide for Maryland residents.
