Trimble Expands Field-to-Office Connectivity for Heavy Civil Contractors
Trimble (TRMB) has announced a new integration between its B2W Track and Trimble Siteworks software systems to enhance progress quantity tracking for earthwork and civil contractors. The integration enables automated production quantity tracking capabilities, allowing contractors to compare actual material production quantities with planned quantities more efficiently.
The new workflow allows project managers to create quantity measurement requests in B2W Track, which are automatically sent to field personnel using Siteworks software. The field data is collected with survey-grade accuracy and transmitted back to B2W Track via Wi-Fi or cellular connections. The production quantity data can be transferred to Trimble Viewpoint Vista, Viewpoint Spectrum accounting systems, or third-party construction accounting systems.
This integration, available now in North America at no additional cost for existing licensees of both software systems, advances Trimble's Construction One vision of connected workflows and data, streamlining the progress-to-plan reporting process.

Insights
Trimble integrates two construction software systems to automate field data collection and reporting, strengthening its connected workflow strategy without adding customer costs.
The new integration between Trimble's B2W Track and Siteworks software addresses a significant operational challenge for heavy civil contractors: accurately tracking and reporting material production quantities from the field to the office. This digital connection eliminates the reliance on phone calls, forms, emails and other disconnected communications tools that have traditionally introduced delays and errors in progress reporting.
The technical implementation leverages Siteworks' survey-grade measurement capabilities to precisely capture distances, angles and elevations on job sites, processing these into 3D data sets that quantify production in terms of linear distances, areas and volumes. This field data flows automatically to B2W Track, where project managers can validate it against information from other sources like field logs.
What makes this integration valuable is its ability to create an auditable progress trail for billable milestones, allowing contractors to make operational adjustments to protect profitability and bill accurately as work increments are completed. The workflow also connects with Trimble's Viewpoint Vista, Viewpoint Spectrum or third-party accounting systems, further extending the data connectivity.
By offering this integration at no additional cost to contractors already licensing both systems, Trimble is enhancing the value proposition of its existing software ecosystem while advancing its Construction One vision of connected workflows. This approach reflects the industry's movement toward more integrated digital solutions that eliminate data silos between field operations and office management.
Trimble's software integration strengthens its construction ecosystem, potentially driving cross-selling opportunities without immediate revenue impact from existing customers.
Trimble's integration between B2W Track and Siteworks software represents a strategic enhancement to its construction technology portfolio rather than a direct revenue generator. By connecting these previously separate systems, Trimble creates additional value for contractors who need to continuously evaluate how well projects are progressing against budgets, timelines and productivity goals.
From a financial perspective, the integration offers several potential benefits. First, it increases the stickiness of Trimble's software ecosystem, potentially improving customer retention by making the combined solution more valuable than individual components. Second, it may drive cross-selling opportunities among contractors currently using only one of these systems who could benefit from the automated workflow.
The decision to offer this integration at no additional cost to contractors that have licenses for both software systems suggests Trimble is prioritizing ecosystem adoption over immediate monetization. This approach aligns with the company's broader Construction One vision of creating interconnected workflows across its various construction applications.
While the announcement doesn't include specific revenue projections, it represents continued execution on Trimble's strategy of building an integrated construction technology platform. By focusing on solving specific operational challenges like production quantity tracking, Trimble demonstrates its understanding of contractor needs while reinforcing its market position in construction technology.
Integration between Trimble Siteworks Software and B2WⓇ Track Enables Automated Production Quantity Tracking Capabilities to Enhance Accuracy and Ease of Progress-to-Plan Reporting
"Civil contractors must continuously evaluate how well projects are progressing against budgets, timelines and productivity goals," said John Sheedy, director of product management at Trimble. "Relying on phone calls, forms, emails and other disconnected communications tools to report on production quantities limits timeliness and accuracy of that reporting. This new software integration brings automation to the process to increase efficiency, eliminate errors and provide an auditable progress trail for billable milestones."
The new Trimble progress-to-plan reporting workflow allows project managers to create requests for quantity measurements — such as the amount of material added, moved or removed at a site — within the B2W Track performance tracking application. Those requests are relayed automatically to personnel in the field who use Siteworks software to fulfill the request at survey-grade accuracy and send the data back to B2W Track via Wi-Fi or cellular connections. B2W Track users can then review and validate the data and reconcile it with information from other sources such as field logs. Production quantity data can also be transferred from B2W Track to the Trimble Viewpoint® Vista™, Viewpoint Spectrum™ accounting systems, or to third-party construction accounting systems.
Integrating Construction Solutions for a Connected Jobsite
Trimble Siteworks software provides construction surveying, machine guidance and site management capabilities. For production quantity tracking, devices enabled with Siteworks software technology precisely measure distances, angles and elevations on job sites and process the resulting 3D data sets to assess production quantities in terms of linear distances, areas and volumes.
B2W Track is a comprehensive Trimble performance tracking application for civil construction. Through customized electronic daily logs and field-centric reporting, the software streamlines collection and analysis of data on productivity, labor, materials and equipment utilization.
"This new integration advances the Trimble Construction One vision of connected workflows and data," said Steve DiBenedetto, product manager at Trimble. "The intuitive process removes friction, delays and risk for errors and makes essential progress-to-plan data available with the push of a few buttons. By building on and linking existing B2W Track and Siteworks software capabilities, we've made it easy for new and existing users to automate this important reporting process at no additional cost."
