Regional Management Corp. Announces Second Quarter 2021 Results
Regional Management Corp. (NYSE: RM) reported a strong second quarter for 2021, with net income soaring to $20.2 million compared to $7.5 million a year earlier. The company achieved a record loan origination of $373 million, driving net receivables to an all-time high of $1.2 billion. Key performance indicators included a 7.1% ROA and a 28.7% ROE. Net income for the second quarter of 2021 was
$20.2 million and diluted earnings per share was$1.87 , compared to net income of$7.5 million and diluted earnings per share of$0.68 in the prior-year period.

$1.2 billion , an increase of15.7% , or$160.8 million , from the prior-year period.

Total core small and large loan net finance receivables increased
$172.3 million , or17.3% , compared to the prior-year period.

$789.7 million increased$171.6 million , or27.8% , from the prior-year period and represented66.7% of the total loan portfolio. Small loan net finance receivables were$380.8 million , an increase of0.2% from the prior-year period.

$20.5 million , a decrease of$7.0 million , or25.3% , from the prior-year period. The provision for credit losses for the second quarter of 2021 included a release in the allowance for credit losses of$6.3 million related to the expected economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and a net$6.1 million incremental build in reserves related to portfolio growth.
