Owens Corning Reports Full-Year and Fourth-Quarter 2020 Results
Owens Corning (NYSE: OC) reported consolidated net sales of $7.1 billion for 2020, a 1% decline from 2019. The fourth quarter saw a significant increase in net sales to $1.9 billion, up 14% year-over-year. The company faced a net loss of $383 million for the year, including a $987 million impairment charge due to COVID-19 uncertainties. However, adjusted earnings rose to $566 million, reflecting operational strength. The Board approved a share repurchase of up to 10 million shares and declared an 8% dividend increase for Q2 2021, indicating strong liquidity with $1.8 billion available.

Return of Capital and Liquidity

On December 3, Owens Corning announced that its Board of Directors approved a share repurchase authorization for up to 10 million shares of the company’s common stock. This was in addition to its previously announced share buyback program. In 2020, the company repurchased 4.1 million shares of common stock for
$292 million . As of December 31, 2020, 9.5 million shares remained available for repurchase.

On February 4, the company’s Board of Directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of
$0.26 per common share, an8% increase compared with the same period in the prior year. The dividend will be payable on April 2, 2021, to shareholders of record as of March 5, 2021. During 2020,$104 million of cash was returned to shareholders through dividends.

Owens Corning maintains a strong balance sheet, access to liquidity, and a well-structured debt maturity profile. The company finished 2020 with
$1.8 billion of available liquidity, inclusive of$717 million in cash and cash equivalents. During the year, the company repaid the$200 million remaining on its term loan and contributed$122 million to its global pension plans.
