1.8V PCIe 4.0 ReDriver from Diodes Incorporated Extends PCB Trace Lengths While Minimizing Power Consumption
Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD) has launched its new PCIe 4.0 ReDriver, the PI2EQX16924, which operates on a 1.8V rail, unlike competitors that require 3.3V. This device consumes only 288mW in active mode and 27mW in low-power mode, making it efficient for battery-operated devices. It supports data rates up to 16Gbps and is backward compatible with PCIe 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0. The ReDriver is designed to minimize signal loss over longer PCB traces and comes in a 32-pin X2-QFN package, priced at $3.25 for quantities of 3500.
- Introduction of the PI2EQX16924 PCIe 4.0 ReDriver enhances product lineup.
- Operates on a lower 1.8V rail, offering a competitive edge.
- Low power consumption of 288mW (active), 27mW (low-power) benefits portable applications.
- Supports data rates of up to 16Gbps and is backward compatible with earlier PCIe generations.
- None.
The PI2EQX16924 only consumes 288mW and 27mW respectively when in active and low-power modes, particularly important for saving battery charge in portable applications.
The device features four differential channels that are independently configurable in terms of receiver equalization and flat gain. This mitigates inter-symbol interference and allows signal loss compensation, so that longer PCB trace lengths can be achieved. As the I2C interface is used for such configuration work, firmware requirements are minimal.
The PI2EQX16924 is capable of handling data rates up to 16Gbps. The device is compliant with PCIe 4.0 and backwards compatible with PCIe 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 generations. An industrial temperature range from -40°C to 85°C is supported.
The PI2EQX16924 ReDriver is supplied in a 32-pin X2-QFN package and it is available at
