iot technical
The Internet of Things (IoT) describes a network of everyday devices—such as appliances, vehicles, and equipment—that are connected to the internet and can share data automatically. For investors, IoT represents a growing trend that can drive efficiency and innovation across many industries, potentially creating new opportunities for growth and value. Its expansion influences how companies operate and compete in a digitally connected world.
iccid technical
A ICCID (Integrated Circuit Card Identifier) is a unique serial number assigned to a SIM or embedded SIM that acts like a vehicle identification number for a mobile subscriber or connected device. Investors should care because ICCIDs enable activation, inventory tracking, fraud prevention and lifecycle management of cellular subscriptions and IoT devices; that in turn affects subscriber counts, service revenue, device provisioning costs and operational reliability for telecom and connected-equipment businesses.
imei technical
A 15-digit IMEI is a unique number assigned to every mobile device, like a vehicle’s VIN, that lets carriers and authorities identify, track, and block individual phones. For investors, IMEI use affects product authentication, theft prevention, warranty and recall handling, and compliance with telecom regulations—factors that influence a device maker’s reputation, resale value, inventory control, and legal risk exposure.
ip address technical
An IP address is a unique numeric label assigned to a device or server on the internet, like a postal address that lets data find where to go and where it came from. For investors it matters because IP addresses help trace web traffic, detect fraud or cyberattacks, and establish where online services operate and are regulated—details that can affect a company’s security risks, reputation, compliance costs, and customer patterns.
vpn technical
A VPN (virtual private network) creates a secure, private “tunnel” through the public internet that hides a device’s location and encrypts the data sent and received, like sealing a letter inside a locked envelope while it travels through the mail. For investors, VPNs matter because they reduce the risk of data breaches, support remote work and regulatory compliance, and represent a recurring-revenue market driver for companies that sell cybersecurity and networking services.
openvpn technical
OpenVPN is a widely used software tool that creates an encrypted, private connection over the public internet so data can travel between locations as if it were on a secured, direct line. For investors this matters because companies that use or provide strong VPN solutions reduce the risk of data breaches, support secure remote work and regulatory compliance, and can lower costs associated with network security and downtime.
webui technical
A web UI (web user interface) is the visual layout and interactive elements a person uses in a web browser to operate software or access online services, like buttons, menus, forms and dashboards. For investors, it matters because a clear, reliable web UI affects how easily customers adopt and use a product—similar to how a well-organized storefront attracts shoppers—and strong usability can drive sales, retention and lower support costs.

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Digi International (NASDAQ: DGII), a leading global provider of IoT connectivity products and secure connectivity solutions, today announced seven new features for Digi Axess, its cloud-based infrastructure management platform, expanding native remote access, cellular SIM management, and advanced data visualization. Three of these features are exclusive to Digi, made possible by its end-to-end ownership of hardware, cellular SIM, private network, and cloud.

Digi International Expands Digi Axess Platform with Native Remote Access, SIM Management, and Advanced IoT Analytics

Digi International Expands Digi Axess Platform with Native Remote Access, SIM Management, and Advanced IoT Analytics

A Unified Approach to Distributed Infrastructure Management

As industrial deployments scale, operators are increasingly forced to manage separate systems for:

  • Remote access
  • Cellular SIM administration
  • Threshold monitoring
  • Analytics and visualization
  • Device troubleshooting

Digi Axess consolidates those capabilities into one centralized platform.

“This release is the result of listening closely to our customers. Customers described their needs, and we delivered,” said Jayson Ness, Product Manager at Digi International. “What makes it different is that three of these expansions are only possible because Digi owns the full stack from device to cloud — including the hardware running at the remote site, such as Digi Z45 Industrial Controller and Digi Connect Sensor XRT-M. No third-party tools, no separate portals, no extra software. One platform.”

New Features in Digi Axess

Digi Axess VPN Link

Operators can securely access remote edge devices directly through Digi Axess without downloading, installing, or configuring a separate OpenVPN client.

Integrated Cellular SIM Management

Available exclusively for Digi data plan customers, Digi Axess now provides centralized visibility into ICCID, IMEI, IP address, and account-level SIM details directly within the platform.

Non-Digi Device Visibility

Organizations can remotely access the webUI of connected devices and organize non-Digi devices operating on a Digi Axess VPN SIM without requiring additional cloud subscriptions.

Interactive Multi-Device Graphing

Users can compare sensor readings and operational data across multiple readings on a single device and across different readings on multiple devices using interactive graphs with expanded historical visibility.

Threshold History Analytics

Threshold breach history helps teams distinguish isolated anomalies from recurring operational patterns that may indicate developing equipment failures.

Automation Overview Mapping

A new visual overview maps relationships between physical inputs, virtual inputs, automation logic, and calculated outputs.

Battery Acknowledgement Monitoring

Battery acknowledgement capabilities help reduce unnecessary maintenance dispatches by differentiating intentional battery replacements from either unexpected or configuration related disconnects.

Operational Benefits for Industrial Organizations

These expansions help organizations:

  • Simplify remote infrastructure management
  • Reduce dependence on third-party remote access tools
  • Consolidate SIM and device visibility into one platform
  • Improve proactive maintenance planning
  • Accelerate troubleshooting across distributed environments
  • Extend visibility to non-Digi assets using Digi cellular connectivity

These expansions are especially valuable for organizations managing remote industrial infrastructure across utilities, manufacturing, oil and gas, transportation, environmental monitoring, and other distributed operational environments.

Availability

All seven features are available now to Digi Axess customers. Digi Axess is designed to work natively with Digi’s industrial automation hardware portfolio, including Digi Z45 Industrial Controller and Digi Connect Sensor XRT-M.
