Cirion Technologies is set to deploy Ciena's WaveLogic 6 Extreme (WL6e) technology, becoming the first operator to offer 1.6 Tb/s speeds in Latin America. The upgrade will enhance Cirion's network capacity across its terrestrial and submarine networks, connecting over 160 data centers in more than 60 cities.
The deployment includes upgrading the SAC East submarine cable to achieve speeds up to 1.2 Tb/s, and implementing the new SAC-2 submarine route as part of the Firmina subsea system, spanning 14,517km to connect the United States, Brazil, and Argentina. The terrestrial implementation will enable 1.6 Tb/s wavelengths across metro DCI and backhaul networks.
Cirion will also implement Ciena's coherent aggregation routers and Navigator Network Control Suite for enhanced network management and optimization.
