NORTHVILLE, Mich., Oct. 24, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Gentherm (NASDAQ: THRM), the global market leader of innovative thermal management and pneumatic comfort technologies for the automotive industry and a leader in medical patient temperature management systems, was named a winner of the Reuters D.R.I.V.E Honour in the ‘Reducing Emissions’ category for its ClimateSense® Technology.
Gentherm ClimateSense is the industry’s first scalable intelligent automotive micro-climate comfort solution that offers an interior cabin experience that uniquely delivers personalized comfort for each occupant with electric efficiency that extends electric vehicle range. ClimateSense leverages thermophysiology principles to determine which areas of the body to target at specific intensity and duration to provide optimal comfort with minimized energy consumption. Published studies show the technology can help deliver up to 50-69 percent energy savings in cold-weather testing and up to 34 percent energy savings in hot weather testing. This energy savings will play a role in helping to reduce global CO2 emissions as the automotive industry shifts to a higher production of electric vehicles.
“We are proud that Gentherm’s ClimateSense has won the 2023 Automotive D.R.I.V.E Honours for reducing emissions,” said Phil Eyler, President and CEO of Gentherm. “ClimateSense is the world’s first scalable automotive occupant-centric micro-climate comfort solution that provides our customers a solution to the problem of temperature-related range loss on electric vehicles. The technology can be adapted and scaled for various vehicles, making the potential greenhouse gas reduction compelling for our customers.”
Regarding the impact of ClimateSense to the automotive industry, Reuters’ panel of judges stated, “The technology presents a novel solution to the problem of temperate-related range loss. The metrics of potential greenhouse gas reduction are compelling and the ability to conform the technology for various auto models makes scaling achievable.” In 2022, Gentherm announced that it will be supplying ClimateSense products on the 2024 Cadillac CELESTIQ, the first-to-market vehicle to feature ClimateSense as standard equipment.
Gentherm was one of only five companies to be named a winner of the Reuters D.R.I.V.E Honour in the ‘Reducing Emissions’ category. For additional details on Gentherm’s award, visit the Reuters DRIVE Honours summary here.
