SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Franklin Templeton today announced the appointment of John Ivanac as Senior Vice President and Consultant Adviser, US Institutional Services, focused on alternative investment capabilities in the US. Ivanac is based in the firm’s New York City office and reports to Mike Foley, Head of US Institutional Services, who oversees Franklin Templeton’s US institutional direct sales, consultant relations and relationship management teams and serves as an essential liaison to institutional distribution leaders at the firm’s independent specialist investment managers.
“Alternative investments represent a significant diversification tool and an area of increasing importance for institutional investors,” said Foley. “John is well known among the institutional investor community, and his expertise in the alternatives space will help us continue delivering the high-quality service our institutional clients and their consultants have come to expect. Franklin Templeton has served the institutional market for more than four decades, and we are thrilled to have someone of John’s caliber join the team and support this strategic priority for the firm.”
In this new role, Ivanac will work closely with the relationship management teams and serve as a key liaison with clients and consultants. Ivanac will be focused specifically on the firm’s alternative investment capabilities to help address the expanding solutions clients and consultants need for their portfolios.
“Franklin Templeton has demonstrated a clear commitment to the institutional market by focusing on high-conviction, world-class solutions and providing clients greater access to non-traditional sources of return through private markets and alternative strategies,” said Ivanac. “I’m excited to join this experienced team to help deliver the breadth and scale of Franklin Templeton’s alternative asset offerings to institutional clients.”
Ivanac has more than 17 years of industry experience, with a concentration in alternatives. He joins Franklin Templeton from Partners Group, a global private markets firm where he served as a Managing Director within the Client Solutions team and was US Head of Consultant Relations. Prior to this role, Ivanac was Global Head of Alternatives for BlackRock’s Consultant Relations team where he was a key player in the firm’s global strategy to commercialize alternative investment strategies. He has also held roles with TCW Group, Scoggin Capital Management and Barclays Wealth & Investment Management, all of which focused on alternatives business development. Ivanac graduated from Rutgers College in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and earned a Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law in 1995.
Franklin Templeton has been building its alternative asset management capabilities over recent years, which now span a broad range of strategies, including real estate, private credit, secondary private equity and co-investments, venture capital and hedge fund strategies across its specialist investment managers. With the recently announced acquisition of Alcentra, a leading European alternative credit manager, Franklin Templeton’s total alternative AUM will reach $257 billion, making the firm one of the largest managers of alternative assets.
