TEMPE, Ariz., Nov. 08, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Wrap Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: WRAP) (the “Company”), a global leader in innovative public safety technologies and services, announced the release of a new bodycam footage of a successful deployment of the BolaWrap device in Indianapolis, Indiana. Officers responding to the call were able to safely restrain a noncompliant subject in crisis.

On October 24th, 2021, Indianapolis Metro Police Department (IMPD) officers responded to a report of a subject lying in the street, calling out for help. Once on scene, officers observed the subject’s erratic behavior and assessed the situation as too volatile to attempt a physical approach to restraint. IMPD officers used the BolaWrap to distract and immobilize the subject by wrapping their lower legs. As a result, officers were able to safely approach and place the subject into handcuffs without force or injury. This is the second deployment of the BolaWrap by the IMPD.

The IMPD released the bodycam footage as part of their Sworn to Serve Bodycam Series.

President and CEO of WRAP, Tom Smith, recently discussed the incident with the deploying officer, Officer Vincent Marshall of IMPD. In this, Smith commended the IMPD for the clear communication and planning that led to the successful use of the BolaWrap: “That is the intent we focus on; that early intervention to use the BolaWrap to prevent escalation.”
