Internet Has 366.3 Million Domain Name Registrations at the End of the Fourth Quarter of 2020
VeriSign (NASDAQ: VRSN) reported a total of 366.3 million domain name registrations by the end of Q4 2020, a decrease of 4.4 million, or 1.2% from Q3 2020. Year-over-year, registrations increased by 4.0 million, or 1.1%. The .com and .net TLDs showed a combined total of 165.2 million registrations, up by 1.5 million, or 0.9% from Q3 2020. New registrations for .com and .net reached 10.5 million, slightly up from 10.3 million in Q4 2019.

The .com and .net TLDs had a combined total of 165.2 million domain name registrations in the domain name base3 at the end of the fourth quarter of 2020, an increase of 1.5 million domain name registrations, or 0.9 percent, compared to the third quarter of 2020. The .com and .net TLDs had a combined increase of 6.3 million domain name registrations, or 4.0 percent, year over year. As of Dec. 31, 2020, the .com domain name base totaled 151.8 million domain name registrations, and the .net domain name base totaled 13.4 million domain name registrations.
New .com and .net domain name registrations totaled 10.5 million at the end of the fourth quarter of 2020, compared to 10.3 million domain name registrations at the end of the fourth quarter of 2019.
