NVIDIA Announces Financial Results for Second Quarter Fiscal 2023
NVIDIA reported Q2 FY23 revenue of $6.70 billion, a 3% increase year-over-year but a 19% decrease from the previous quarter. Earnings per diluted share fell significantly to $0.26, down 72% from last year. Data Center revenue soared 61% year-over-year to $3.81 billion. The company returned $3.44 billion to shareholders, with $11.93 billion remaining for share repurchases. Q3 guidance anticipates revenue of $5.90 billion due to expected declines in Gaming and Professional Visualization revenue.

Outlook
NVIDIA’s outlook for the third quarter of fiscal 2023 is as follows:
- Revenue is expected to be
$5.90 billion , plus or minus2% . Gaming and Professional Visualization revenue are expected to decline sequentially, as OEMs and channel partners reduce inventory levels to align with current levels of demand and prepare for NVIDIA’s new product generation. The company expects that decline to be partially offset by sequential growth in Data Center and Automotive. - GAAP and non-GAAP gross margins are expected to be
62.4% and65.0% , respectively, plus or minus 50 basis points. - GAAP and non-GAAP operating expenses are expected to be approximately
$2.59 billion and$1.82 billion , respectively. - GAAP and non-GAAP other income and expense are expected to be an expense of approximately
$10 million , excluding gains and losses from non-affiliated investments. - GAAP and non-GAAP tax rates are expected to be
9.5% , plus or minus1% , excluding any discrete items.

Non-GAAP Measures
To supplement NVIDIA’s condensed consolidated financial statements presented in accordance with GAAP, the company uses non-GAAP measures of certain components of financial performance. These non-GAAP measures include non-GAAP gross profit, non-GAAP gross margin, non-GAAP operating expenses, non-GAAP income from operations, non-GAAP other income (expense), net, non-GAAP net income, non-GAAP net income, or earnings, per diluted share, and free cash flow. For NVIDIA’s investors to be better able to compare its current results with those of previous periods, the company has shown a reconciliation of GAAP to non-GAAP financial measures. These reconciliations adjust the related GAAP financial measures to exclude acquisition termination costs, stock-based compensation expense, acquisition-related and other costs, contributions, IP-related costs, legal settlement costs, gains and losses from non-affiliated investments, interest expense related to amortization of debt discount, the associated tax impact of these items where applicable, domestication tax benefit, and foreign tax benefit.
