Specialty Review in Neonatology | March 1-6
Now in its 11th year, Specialty Review is the premier board certification review course of its type, offering an intensive and comprehensive review of neonatology by expert faculty. The course is invaluable to providers preparing for the subspecialty certifying examinations in neonatal medicine, as well as new or current fellows in training seeking a fundamental pathophysiology and problem-based review in the specialty of neonatology.
Directed by David Weisoly, D.O., FAAP, neonatologist and medical director at Pediatrix Neonatology of Houston, the six-day course will feature an elite lineup of world-renowned speakers known for their excellence in teaching and field expertise. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in the popular “Battle of the Boards” evening event. The Jeopardy-style rapid fire team competition, complete with dinner, music and camaraderie, is designed to enhance the learning experience in a fun, interactive setting.
Now in its 43rd year, NEO has established a reputation as the top neonatology meeting in the U.S. Directed by Reese Clark, M.D., executive director of the Center for Research, Education, Quality and Safety (CREQS) and vice president of clinical research for Pediatrix, and Timothy Biela, M.D., neonatologist and medical director at Pediatrix Neonatology of San Antonio, NEO continues its longstanding tradition of providing the latest information on key areas of neonatal management. The goal of the meeting continues to be the improvement of neonatal outcomes through expert discussions of optimal approaches in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
An esteemed panel of speakers comprised of several Pediatrix-affiliated physicians and well-recognized faculty from top institutions across the country will present over the course of three days. A highly anticipated event on the agenda each year is the presentation of the Legends of Neonatology Award. Established in 2007, the award honors the remarkable individuals whose clinical contributions have helped forge new ground in neonatal medicine.
This year’s honoree is Jeffrey Gould, M.D., MPH, neonatologist and perinatal epidemiologist at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Gould co-founded the California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (CPQCC), the nation’s first statewide quality improvement consortium that also serves as a platform for faculty, trainee and inter-university collaborative translational research in perinatal epidemiology, quality of care analysis and risk reduction/quality improvement program development. CPQCC includes 138 California NICUs and under Dr. Gould’s leadership, has developed quality improvement toolkits, conducted successful multi-institutional quality improvement initiatives and has been nationally and internationally recognized as a model for regionalized perinatal quality improvement. To address the broader needs of all pregnant women, he also founded the California Maternal Quality Care Collaborative (CMQCC) in 2006 as a sister organization to assess and improve the quality, outcomes and disparities in the obstetric care of all women in California. In addition to his innovative accomplishments in statewide collaboration to improve the quality of perinatal care and health outcomes, Dr. Gould has been published in more than 160 peer-reviewed publications in the areas of perinatal epidemiology and quality improvement.
CREQS is accredited with commendation as a provider of continuing medical education by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education and continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
