Kimco Realty (NYSE: KIM), the leading publicly traded owner of open-air grocery-anchored shopping centers, announced its 2022 dividend distributions, totaling $0.840 for common shares. The dividends were allocated across four payments, with the last at $0.230 per share. Separately, Kimco sold shares of the Albertsons Companies (NYSE: ACI) and recognized a long-term capital gain of approximately $251 million in 2022. The company elected to retain the proceeds from this stock sale for general corporate purposes and pay federal corporate income tax on the taxable gain. This undistributed long-term capital gain is treated as a distribution to shareholders of record on December 31, 2022, and each shareholder’s proportionate share of this undistributed capital gain will be reported on Form 2439, Notice to Shareholder of Undistributed Long-Term Capital Gains. Correspondingly, each shareholder is entitled to a federal tax credit for its share of the federal income tax paid by the Company.
