Company is the world’s first and only producer of unique, multi-nutrient organic fertilizer

TEL AVIV, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- ICL (NYSE: ICL) (TASE: ICL), a leading global specialty minerals company, today announced the North York Moors Park Authority Planning Committee approved the ICL Boulby Mine’s application for the continuation of polyhalite and salt production for an additional 25 years, which will begin in 2023 when the current planning permission expires.

“We are grateful for the Park Authority’s decision, which will enable us to remain at the heart of the local community – as the largest employer in East Cleveland – and exploit our position as the world’s first and only producer of polyhalite, the multi-nutrient organic fertilizer which is now helping to meet the world’s food needs across the UK and five continents,” said Andrew Fulton, vice president and general manager of ICL Boulby.

“The decision comes at a particularly important stage in our development plans: having weathered the worst of the pandemic – and remaining in operation throughout – we are now significantly enhancing production. In October, we delivered record monthly processed polyhalite production of more than 80,000 tons. The Park Authority’s approval of our application is good news for the future of our business, our workforce and our area.”
