FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Global educational services provider Kaplan has been Certified™ by Great Place To Work®, a prestigious designation that’s based entirely on what current employees say about their experiences on the job. This year, 74 percent of Kaplan employees said it’s a great place to work, nearly 20 points higher than the average U.S. company, according to Great Place to Work. And as part of the certification process’ Trust Index™ survey, which was gathered on employees’ comments, the most cited reasons for working at Kaplan include “people,” “team,” “home” and “remote”; the latter two words reference Kaplan being an entirely remote, work-at-home workforce.

"Great Place To Work Certification is a highly coveted achievement that requires consistent and intentional dedication to the overall employee experience," says Sarah Lewis-Kulin, vice president of global recognition at Great Place To Work. She emphasizes that Certification is the sole official recognition earned by the real-time feedback of employees regarding their company culture.

According to Great Place To Work research, job seekers are 4.5 times more likely to find a great boss at a Certified great workplace. Additionally, employees at Certified workplaces are 93 percent more likely to look forward to coming to work and are twice as likely to have a fair chance at promotion.

“Kaplan is proud to become Great Place To Work-Certified™ because employee experience is a top priority every day,” said Yvonne Cowser Yancy, Chief People Officer, Kaplan. “We owe our continued success to our team of dedicated employees. We celebrate and thank them for all they do, which earned us this incredible recognition.”

Yancy notes that as Kaplan is a remote-first workforce, all of the company’s engagement efforts are aimed towards virtually building and maintaining a sense of belonging. One way Kaplan does this is through its internal, grassroots engagement team, Kaplan4Kaplan, or K4K. Each November, K4K puts on the Season of Giving campaign, providing ideas for ways employees can give back. In 2023, the group recognized that there was a desire for Kaplan employees to donate their time, as well as a need to connect with others locally, so the team built a campaign that involved compiling local volunteer activities in areas with the highest employee populations, as well as virtual options. Internal chat spaces were also created for the most highly populated areas. Employees were encouraged to join these chat spaces and volunteer together, locally. Prior to the campaign, there were approximately 3,000 volunteer hours used; but after the month-long campaign, over 6,300 hours were used, more than doubling the contribution to local communities.

Additionally, among other benefits, Kaplan has a matching gift program through its parent company, the Graham Holdings Company.

“Kaplan’s ‘great place’ journey continues,” added Yancy. “We’re excited with this latest honor, which only encourages us to forge ahead with more ways to give our employees a fantastic experience and strengthen our position as an employer of choice.”

In addition to this latest accolade, Kaplan has been certified for three consecutive years as a Most Loved Workplace®, by the Best Practice Institute, based on various elements around employee satisfaction and sentiment including the level of respect, collaboration, support, and sense of belonging they feel inside the company.
