SAN LEANDRO, CA / ACCESSWIRE / November 16, 2020 / Energy Recovery (NASDAQ:ERII) today announced a contract with IDE Technologies ("IDE") to replace the Calder DWEER work exchanger ("DWEER") energy recovery device ("ERD") technology in a desalination facility supporting a copper mine in Chile. Energy Recovery will be supplying IDE with several of the Company's PX PowerTrains™.
The PX PowerTrain solution combines Energy Recovery's award-winning PX® Pressure Exchanger® ("PX") devices with frame support and ancillary equipment into a compact, ready to install, high-performance ERD solution.
"Energy Recovery was selected for this retrofit project following a real-world trial that clearly demonstrated the superior efficiency and reliability of our PX ERD compared to the DWEER ERD," said Robert Mao, Energy Recovery Chairman of the Board and President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our PX PowerTrain solution is the newest iteration of our ongoing efforts to provide more flexible, scalable PX solutions to meet the unique demands of our customers around the world."
"When we were tasked to upgrade this facility's performance, we needed proven technology to maximize uptime and deliver the highest efficiency and reliability," said Natanel Louzon, Director, Customer Support and O&M Division with IDE. "Energy Recovery's PX is simply the most reliable ERD on the market, delivering unmatched energy savings while requiring minimal maintenance. The trusted performance of their core PX technology, together with the complete-package PX PowerTrain solution, made this an easy choice."
The desalination facility was commissioned in 2017 and is the largest non-municipal desalination plant in the world exclusively dedicated for industrial use. The total plant capacity is approximately 300,000 cubic meters per day ("m3/day").
