Drax Donates More Than $291,000 to Non-Profits Focused on STEM Education and the Environment
Renewable energy company Drax has donated $291,585 to five U.S. non-profits focused on STEM education and environmental sustainability. The recipients include The Boys and Girls Clubs of America (Mississippi), The Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME), The Houston Audubon, The Central Creativity Foundation, and The Gulf Coast Center for Ecotourism and Sustainability. These funds will support thousands of children across Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, offering them access to STEM education and environmental programs. The Boys and Girls Clubs of America received $70,000 to enhance STEM opportunities in Central Mississippi and the Gulf Coast. TAME was awarded $80,000 to support free engineering programs for underrepresented students in Texas. The Houston Audubon, focused on protecting the natural environment, received $25,000. The Central Creativity Foundation, in collaboration with LaSTEM, got $66,585 to host energy camps in Mississippi and Alabama. Lastly, $50,000 went to The Gulf Coast Center for Ecotourism & Sustainability to promote environmental stewardship and sustainable tourism along the Gulf Coast.
