BAE Systems (LON: BA) has selected Parsons (NYSE: PSN) for a $15.4 million, two-year contract to begin initial designs for modernizing the Alternate Nitrate Ester Manufacturing Facility at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant (RFAAP). This project aims to improve safety, increase operational efficiencies, and prioritize environmental improvements at the World War II-era facilities. BAE Systems Ordnance Systems Inc (OSI) has been operating RFAAP since 2012 and recently secured a contract to operate the Holston Army Ammunition Plant through 2035. BAE Systems has secured contracts worth $111 million to deliver the SATURN waveform communications technology to the Republic of Korea (ROK). This modernized communication system will enhance secure, interoperable command and control capabilities for the ROK's military aircraft. The SATURN technology, known for its fast frequency hopping and anti-jam features, will be integrated into BAE's ARC-232A software-defined radios. BISim™ has announced the 24.1 upgrade for its flagship products, VBS4 and VBS Blue IG, introducing over 800 new features. These enhancements aim to boost multi-domain simulation capabilities and improve training outcomes for defense forces globally. Key updates include improved AI behaviors, new drone munitions, a built-in benchmark tool, geo terrain editing capabilities, and the addition of approximately 9,000 new airfields. BAE Systems has unveiled its fourth Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) prototype at Eurosatory 2024. This prototype, featuring a common top plate or External Mission Equipment Package (ExMEP), showcases the vehicle's modularity and ability to integrate various equipment packages. Equipped with Oshkosh Defense’s Medium Caliber Weapon System (MCWS), the AMPV can adapt to over 30 turret systems, enhancing its versatility for international missions.
