Chamberlain University and the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) have launched a free 16-week Introduction to Oncology Nursing course as part of the Practice Ready. Specialty Focused.™ (PRSF) initiative. The program, funded by the American Nurses Foundation, aims to address the national nursing shortage by providing pre-licensure students with specialized healthcare training.
The course is available online and across all 23 Chamberlain campuses, offering four modules: Cancer Basics, Cancer Treatment Modalities, Symptom Management, and Cancer Treatment and Beyond. From January 2022 through May 2024, the PRSF program has enrolled 2,263 students with a 90% completion rate. Additional PRSF courses include emergency nursing, perioperative, home health nursing, nephrology, and critical care nursing.
