MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Ameriprise Financial, in partnership with Feeding America®, is bringing together its employees, advisors and clients to make a collective impact in the fight against hunger. As part of the company’s twice-annual National Days of Service, Ameriprise employees, advisors and clients will stock shelves, sort food and host virtual food drives to support the 38 million people in America, including 12 million children, struggling with hunger. A mix of in-person and virtual volunteer events will help the company engage more volunteers at a time when the rising price of groceries and other essentials is putting increased demand on foodbanks and the people they serve.
“Hunger has been a serious issue in our country for decades, and now the need is even more urgent as inflation pushes food costs to new levels,” said Brian Pietsch, head of community relations at Ameriprise. “At the same time, our nonprofit partners are facing an immense amount of pressure as supply chain issues are making it harder to source, store and transport food to people in need. Volunteer shortages and the rising cost of labor stemming from the pandemic have made matters worse. Our Ameriprise employees, advisors and clients are eager to help fill these needs and work together to make a collective impact.”
“The simultaneous impact of rising food costs and demand has created serious challenges for the Feeding America network of food banks,” said Lauren Biedron, vice president of corporate partnerships at Feeding America. “We are grateful to organizations like Ameriprise that have long supported hunger relief and will help us meet the challenges of today and tomorrow.”
