USCYBERCOM’s successful Industry Days event held May 22-23 at MISI’s DreamPort facility highlighted the importance of collaboration between the private cybersecurity industry, academia and government
MISI’s Cyber Mission Accelerators®, DreamPort and Mindscape, are cybersecurity innovation and prototyping facilities serving the United States Cyber Command (USCYBERCOM) through a Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA). Through these facilities, MISI supports joint activities with small business firms and higher education institutions to create new cybersecurity solutions for specific challenge problems. MISI is actively seeking participation from small businesses to identify solutions, enable the future cyber workforce, and break down silos to improve government cybersecurity.

Smith brings to MISI over 20 years of security and technology experience, including significant international business and government focused experience. Previously, Smith was CEO of Attila Security, acquired in 2021 by ID Technology, a CACI Company. Prior to Attila Security, Smith was CEO of Silent Circle, Acuity Mobile, KoolSpan, Karch International and Acuity Mobile. He was also President of Aether Systems (NASDAQ: AETH) and SVP of TeleCommunications Systems (NASDAQ: TSYS). Throughout his career, Smith has led nine companies to successful exits.

One recent example of small business collaboration took place during USCYBERCOM’s third annual Industry Days hosted at DreamPort on May 22-23. Presentations included a keynote from General Paul M. Nakasone, Commander of USCYBERCOM, Director of the National Security Agency, and Chief of the Central Security Service.
