Insights

The $30,000 donation from ADS Foundation, while commendable from a corporate social responsibility perspective, has minimal financial impact on Advanced Drainage Systems (WMS), a company with a market cap of nearly $11 billion. The provision of products by Infiltrator Water Technologies for recovery efforts could present a small business opportunity, but the scale is likely insignificant relative to the company's overall operations.

However, this strategic presence in disaster recovery zones could strengthen ADS's market position in future infrastructure rebuilding projects. The company's expertise in water management solutions positions them well to capitalize on increasing severe weather events and the growing need for resilient water infrastructure. The immediate financial impact is negligible, but the long-term relationship building with state agencies could yield future contracts.

HILLIARD, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. (NYSE: WMS) (“ADS” or the “Company”), a leading provider of innovative water management solutions in the stormwater and onsite septic wastewater industries and one of the largest plastic recyclers in North America, today announced the donation of $30,000 to help in the Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton relief efforts through the ADS Foundation.

The funds will be split, with $15,000 going to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund and $15,000 going to the Florida Disaster Fund. Both states were hit especially hard by Helene, a category 4 hurricane, with Florida receiving another devastating hit just 13 days later when Milton made landfall as a category 3 hurricane.

According to the National Hurricane Center, Helene hit areas of Florida harder than any hurricane in 103 years, with water levels reaching more than 15 feet above ground level. North Carolina experienced devastation due to a recent storm event that soaked areas of the state, making it difficult for the ground to absorb Hurricane Helene’s rain, which caused landslides and flash flooding. Hurricane Milton followed less than two weeks later, spawning an unprecedented number of tornados, before making landfall in the state of Florida.

“With the increasing intensity and frequency of storms in our country, it’s important to support areas impacted by these hurricanes’ devastating effects, so residents have the help they need to recover as quickly as possible. Both states, Florida and North Carolina, are home to many of our associates, and as a water management company, we know firsthand the impact a hurricane can have on communities,” said Kevin Talley, president of the ADS Foundation. “One of the reasons the foundation was created is to allow us to rapidly respond when disasters strike. This donation will help rebuild damaged infrastructure in some of the hardest hit areas of these states.”

The ADS Foundation is the charitable arm of ADS with a mission of improving quality of life by building resilient and sustainable communities that inspire social equity in recycling, education, mental health, housing, and water.

In addition to the corporate disaster recovery donation, Infiltrator Water Technologies, a subsidiary of ADS that specializes in onsite wastewater solutions, is providing products to areas heavily impacted by the storm to help aid in recovery efforts. Additionally, two ADS manufacturing facilities partnered with their respective communities to gather and deliver supplies to North Carolina.

Water is the world’s most precious resource. As an industry leader, ADS is committed to protecting and managing water by providing sustainable water management solutions that safeguard the environment and build resilient communities. Learn more on their website at https://www.adspipe.com/about-us.
