CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Mill Creek Capital Advisors, LLC, an outsourced Chief Investment Officer firm managing assets of $9 billion for individual and institutional investors, announced today that Chief Investment Officer Thomas M. Chapin will transition to the role of Investment Committee Chairperson effective December 31, 2021. The Company will promote current Deputy Chief Investment Officer Michael W. Crook to Chief Investment Officer on that date.

Mr. Chapin is a founding partner of Mill Creek and has served as the firm’s Chief Investment Officer since its start in 2006. Previously, Mr. Chapin was a senior executive at The Vanguard Group where he held various leadership roles in investment management, marketing and client services during his 20+ year tenure. As Mill Creek’s Chief Investment Officer, Mr. Chapin currently leads the firm's Investment Strategy and Communications business units. He is responsible for setting the firm’s strategic and tactical asset allocation policies and for managing the selection and oversight of the external money managers hired to invest client assets across a broad mix of public and private investment securities, strategies, and markets. During his tenure as Chief Investment Officer, Mr. Chapin’s leadership has guided the firm through some challenging investment periods, including the 2008-2009 financial market crisis and the 2020-2021 global pandemic. His steady hand – reflected in a risk-managed and expense-controlled approach to constructing client portfolios and jargon-free communications to clients concerning uncertain economies and capital markets – helped to distinguish Mill Creek from its many industry competitors.

“It has been an honor to be a part of Mill Creek since we welcomed our first clients in 2006,” said Mr. Chapin. “I am proud of the many significant milestones we have achieved as a team and of the very competitive investment outcomes that we have produced for our clients. Michael is an experienced and innovative investment professional under whose exceptional leadership Mill Creek’s Investment Strategy team will continue to produce strong investment results for our growing client base”.

Mr. Crook joined the Company in 2020 from UBS Wealth Management where he served as a senior executive in its Chief Investment Office. “It has been a pleasure working closely with Tom and I am excited to build upon Mill Creek’s successes. The firm has experienced strong growth since I joined last year and I look forward to working closely with the partners, senior management team, talented employees and our clients to further leverage our unique position and excellent reputation”

Joshua Gross, Chief Executive Officer said, “We are pleased to appoint Michael as Chief Investment Officer upon Tom’s transition to Investment Committee Chairperson. We are confident in Michael’s ability to lead the continued execution of our strategic vision through the Company’s next phase of growth and development.”

“On behalf of the firm, I would like to thank Tom for his many contributions to Mill Creek as a founding partner and Chief Investment Officer. During his tenure, Tom has been a key driver in the firm’s success as he built out our investment strategy from its robust intellectual roots into a very successful and increasingly imitated approach to best meet our clients’ long-term investment goals. We wish Tom and Michael all the best in their new roles,” added Mr. Gross.
