Scripps Howard Fund accepting entries for the 72nd Scripps Howard Journalism Awards
The Scripps Howard Fund has announced the opening of entries for the 72nd Scripps Howard Journalism Awards, offering $140,000 in prize money across 12 categories. The prestigious competition, accepting submissions for journalism produced in 2024 until February 3, recognizes excellence in various media formats including television, radio, podcasts, visual media, online outlets, and print publications.
New this year, winners will receive a travel stipend to present their work to journalism students at universities, in addition to prize money and trophy. The awards focus on high-impact and investigative reporting, with categories including Audio Storytelling, Business/Financial Reporting, Environmental Reporting, and Investigative Reporting among others.
The Impact Award, chosen from winners and select finalists, previously recognized Hannah Dreier of The New York Times for her work on child labor issues, which prompted a White House crackdown on unsafe working conditions for young immigrants.

Finalists for the 72nd Scripps Howard Journalism Awards will be announced in the spring. New this year, in addition to the prize money and trophy, Scripps Howard Journalism Award winners will also receive a travel stipend/honorarium to visit a university and present their entry to journalism students.
