The new chips enable transition from 4G to 5G eRedCap, addressing IoT longevity challenges.
The Calliope 3 builds on Calliope 2 Cat 1bis, adding 5G NR eRedCap capabilities for fleet management, wearables, and security devices. The Monarch 3 enhances the LTE-M/NB-IoT Monarch 2 solution with 5G NR eRedCap support, targeting smart metering, healthcare, and asset tracking applications.
Both new chips offer footprint and software compatibility with their predecessors, featuring improvements in power consumption, integration, and cost efficiency. The development was supported by a French 2030 grant awarded in 2024. Sequans plans to begin providing samples to customers in 2026.
