Saline Area Schools Switched from Laser Printers to Epson Inkjet Printers for Energy Efficiency and Cost Savings
Epson America announced that Saline Area Schools has replaced its laser printer fleet with Epson inkjet printers across seven education buildings. The switch was primarily driven by environmental benefits and cost savings through Epson's PrecisionCore® Heat-Free technology.
The district implemented WorkForce® Enterprise AM-C5000 Color MFPs, WF-M21000 Monochrome MFPs, and WorkForce Pro WF-C579R printers. The new systems offer features like hole punching, stapling, and duplex printing. The WF-C579R can print up to 50,000 black/20,000 color ISO pages per ink pack, while the WF-M21000 delivers 100 ISO ppm.
In the first four months, the school district printed over two million pages, reporting significant energy savings due to the heat-free printing process. The district also expanded its Epson adoption by installing document cameras and projectors in elementary schools.

"The district has been focused on implementing technology and making decisions that help us to be more green by saving energy and reducing our carbon footprint," said Jay Grossman, director of technology at the Saline Area Schools district office. "During our conversation at the Board of Education meeting where we were seeking approval for the bid, the consensus was that the Epson printers would be the best fit for making a difference when it comes to environmental impact as well as overall energy and cost savings."
The Saline Area School district Instructional Technology department's mission is to bring technology into the classroom for educators and students to utilize as a tool to aid in the learning process. Its former printer fleet proved to no longer serve as a bridge to enhance learning but instead a barrier due to frequent machine downtime, long turnaround times for replacement parts and toner complications.
The district replaced its former laser printer fleet with the WorkForce® Enterprise AM-C5000 Color MFPs, WF-M21000 Monochrome MFPs and WorkForce Pro WF-C579R* Workgroup Color MFPs with Replaceable Ink Pack Systems.
