NORTHAMPTON, MA / ACCESSWIRE / April 11, 2023 / Sealed Air (SEE) is implementing measures to increase energy efficiency and implementation of renewable energy sources across its value chain. The company invested in renewable energy credits which resulted in 16 of the company's facilities being fully credited with 100% renewable energy as of December 31, 2021.

In 2021, SEE operations consumed 1,370,232,395 kilowatt hour (kWh) energy equating to 4,932,836 gigajoules. The breakdown was 55% grid electricity, 12% renewable electricity, and 33% self-generated energy (natural gas, propane, scrap plastic, diesel, gasoline).

The goal is to achieve energy intensity reductions of 17% by 2025 and 28% by 2030 from a 2019 base year.

Through 2021, SEE achieved a 10.1% reduction in energy intensity from a 2019 base year. Since it is not critical that potable water is used for manufacturing SEE products, it was determined that the availability of fresh water is not important to SEE's direct operations.
