DOTS Platform Is Now at Six of Fifteen Top Academic Synthetic Biology Pilot Plants in the U.S.
BOHEMIA, NY and PITTSBURGH, PA / ACCESSWIRE / September 16, 2022 / Scientific Industries, Inc. (OTCQB:SCND), a life science tool provider announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Scientific Bioprocessing, Inc. ("SBI") entered into a research collaboration with Valerian Materials, the National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center (NCERC), and the University of Minnesota (UMN), which will incorporate SBI's innovative DOTS software platform to advance digitally simplified bioprocessing. SBI's DOTS product combines a network of sensors and actuators with powerful software to monitor Critical Process Parameters (CPPs) in real-time and on a continuous basis.
The research project was one of nine projects announced yesterday by BioMADE (press release link here) at the Summit on the National Biotechnology and Biomanufacturing Initiative hosted at the White House where the Biden Administration revealed the details of the President's Executive Order and plans to invest over
With the addition of NCERC and UMN, products from SBI's DOTS platform are now a key part of the workflow at six of the fifteen top academic synthetic biology pilot plants in the United States. The team at SBI is eager to collaborate with these academic leaders, looking to expand upon their experience and gain reference testimonial in how the use of DOTS-enabled shake flasks can result in a tangibly faster scale-up and economically viable solution at ten percent of the capital and operating cost of legacy workflows with conventional bioreactors.
John Moore, Chairman of Scientific Industries and SBI said, "There is an important movement underway to decarbonize our economy and Scientific Bioprocessing is developing critical fundamental tools on the DOTS platform to enable this new bioeconomy. We are so excited to be a part of this important BioMADE project and to be collaborating with these new highly respected partners. The success and transparency of this project will be an important reference for other customers. DOTS is gaining awareness and market traction."
