Signature Bank Reports 2022 Third Quarter Results
In the third quarter of 2022, Signature Bank (SBNY) reported a record net income of $358.5 million, or $5.57 diluted EPS, reflecting a 48.5% increase year-over-year. Pre-tax, pre-provision earnings also hit a record at $492.3 million, up 48.7% from the previous year. Despite a $1.34 billion drop in total deposits, loans grew by 2.6% to $73.84 billion, with a net interest margin of 2.38%. Income Taxes
Income tax expense for the third quarter of 2022 included an increase in tax benefits associated with sustainable finance lending. This lowered our quarterly effective tax rate to 22.6 percent compared with 26.2 percent for the same period a year ago, and 28.2 percent for the second quarter of 2022.
