PepsiCo Announces Senior Leadership Appointments
On August 19, 2020, PepsiCo announced the appointment of Roberto Azevêdo as Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, effective September 1, 2020. Azevêdo, previously Director-General of the WTO, will enhance PepsiCo's engagement with global stakeholders and advance its ESG strategy. Additionally, Jim Andrew was appointed Chief Sustainability Officer, also effective September 1, succeeding Simon Lowden. Andrew will focus on PepsiCo's Sustainability Agenda and oversee the SodaStream business. PepsiCo generated over $67 billion in net revenue in 2019 with a broad product portfolio.

PURCHASE, N.Y., Aug. 19, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- PepsiCo, Inc. (NASDAQ: PEP) ("PepsiCo") today announced that Roberto Azevêdo, currently Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), has been appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, effective September 1, 2020.
In this newly created role that brings PepsiCo's Public Policy, Government Affairs, and Communications activities under one umbrella, Azevêdo will focus on solidifying PepsiCo's external engagement efforts with national and international governments, regulators, international organizations and non-governmental stakeholders. He will also help advance PepsiCo's Winning with Purpose strategy by strengthening the company's ESG value proposition and increasing engagement at local and community levels. Azevêdo joins PepsiCo's executive committee, bringing rich geopolitical insights and a global perspective to its discussions and decision-making.

Azevêdo currently serves as the sixth Director-General of the WTO, a position he has held since September 2013. In 2008, he was appointed Brazil's Ambassador to the WTO. From 2006 to 2008, Azevêdo was Vice-Minister for Economic and Technological Affairs at the Foreign Ministry in Brasilia, where he was Brazil's chief trade negotiator for the Doha Round and represented Brazil in MERCOSUR negotiations. From 2001 to 2005, he was head of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry's Dispute Settlement Unit and Brazil's chief litigator in WTO disputes. Azevêdo, who is also an electrical engineer, began his career as a diplomat in Washington, DC, followed by additional posts in Montevideo, Uruguay, and Geneva, Switzerland.

Chief Sustainability Officer and Executive Vice President, Beyond the Bottle
PepsiCo also announced today that it has appointed Jim Andrew as Chief Sustainability Officer, in addition to his current role as Executive Vice President, Beyond the Bottle, effective September 1, 2020. Andrew replaces Simon Lowden who has decided to retire from PepsiCo after 24 years of exemplary service.
In this role, Andrew will be responsible for leading PepsiCo's Sustainability Office, including the Global Sustainable Plastics team and Global Sustainable Operations team. He will focus on accelerating PepsiCo's global Sustainability Agenda while further integrating sustainability into the company's business strategy and brands. Andrew will also continue to oversee PepsiCo's SodaStream business and Beyond the Bottle strategy as the company looks for ways to deliver beverages free from single-use plastic.
