Peoples Bancorp Announces Fourth Quarter And Record Full Year 2021 Results
Peoples Bancorp of North Carolina (NASDAQ:PEBK) reported impressive financial results for Q4 2021 and the full year. Q4 net earnings rose to $3.0 million ($0.55/share) from $1.9 million ($0.34/share) YoY. Full year net earnings reached a record $15.1 million ($2.71/share), up from $11.4 million ($2.01/share) in 2020. The bank reported a decrease in net interest income due to lower loan volumes and fees, alongside a recovery in the provision for loan losses. Fourth quarter 2021 highlights:

$3.0 million or$0.55 per share and$0.53 per diluted share for the three months ended December 31, 2021, as compared to$1.9 million or$0.34 per share and$0.33 per diluted share for the same period one year ago. - The Bank recognized
$338,000 in Small Business Administration (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan fee income during the three months ended December 31, 2021, as compared to$1.0 million in PPP loan fee income for the same period one year ago.
Full year 2021 highlights:

$15.1 million or$2.71 per share and$2.63 per diluted share for the year ended December 31, 2021, as compared to$11.4 million or$2.01 per share and$1.95 per diluted share for the year ended December 31, 2020. - The Bank originated 419 PPP loans, totaling
