NOV Provides Operational Update for the First Quarter 2021
NOV Inc. (NYSE: NOV) expects first quarter 2021 operating results to fall short of prior guidance, anticipating revenues of $1.20 to $1.25 billion and an adjusted EBITDA loss of $15 to $25 million. The company attributes this downturn to extreme winter weather in Texas and Oklahoma, ongoing COVID-19 impacts, and reduced spending from oilfield customers. Despite these challenges, NOV's leadership anticipates improved prospects in the latter half of the year due to rising oil prices and recovery in drilling activity.
- Expectations of improved business performance in the second half of the year driven by $60+ oil prices and recovery in the North American rig count.
- Recent improvements in North American drilling activity levels and cost-saving initiatives expected to offset some weather-related disruptions.
- First quarter operating results anticipated to be below guidance due to severe winter weather, COVID-19 impacts, and customer spending austerity.
- Adjusted EBITDA loss forecasted between $15 to $25 million.

Within NOV’s Wellbore Technologies segment, recent improvements in North American drilling activity levels and incremental cost savings initiatives are expected to offset weather-related disruptions and allow for segment results that are in-line with prior guidance. The Company now forecasts consolidated first quarter 2021 revenues will be between
Williams continued, “While the first quarter result is disappointing, we expect the prospects for our business to improve through the remainder of the year. The combination of
