Independent Bank Corporation (NASDAQ: IBCP) reported a net income of $13.0 million or $0.61 per diluted share for Q2 2022, a 4.9% increase from $12.4 million in Q2 2021. Highlights for the second quarter of 2022 include:
- Increases in net income and diluted earnings per share of
4.9% and8.9% , respectively, over the second quarter of 2021; - Net growth in portfolio loans of
$254.8 million (or34.0% annualized); - Annualized return on average assets and average equity of
1.10% and15.68% , respectively; - An increase in net interest income of
14.9% over the second quarter of 2021; - Continued strong asset quality metrics as evidenced by net loan recoveries during the quarter as well as a low level of non-performing loans and non-performing assets; and
- The payment of a 22 cent per share dividend on common stock on May 16, 2022.
Highlights for the first six months of 2022 include:
- Annualized return on average assets and average equity of
1.32% and17.63% , respectively; - An increase in net interest income of
$7.4 million or12.0% over the first six months of 2021; - Net growth in portfolio loans of
$353.8 million (or24.6% annualized); and - Net growth in deposits, excluding brokered time deposits, of

Significant items impacting comparable 2022 and 2021 results include the following:
- Changes in the fair value due to price of capitalized mortgage loan servicing rights (the “MSR Changes”) of
$3.1 million ($0.12 per diluted share, after taxes) and$11.6 million ($0.43 per diluted share, after taxes) for the three- and six-months ended June 30, 2022, respectively, as compared to a negative$2.4 million ($0.09 per diluted share, after taxes) and a positive$2.2 million ($0.08 per diluted share, after taxes) for the three- and six-months ended June 30, 2021, respectively. - Gain on sale of a branch facility in other income of
$0.9 million dollars during the three- and six- months ended June 30, 2022. - The provision for credit losses was an expense of
$2.4 million in the second quarter of 2022 compared to a credit of$1.4 million in the second quarter of 2021. - Net gains on mortgage loans was
