Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) has appointed José Muñoz as President and CEO, effective January 1, 2025, succeeding Jaehoon Chang who becomes Vice Chair of Hyundai Motor Group's Automotive Division. Muñoz, who joined HMC in 2019 as Global COO, will lead the company's global business and oversee its 'Progress for Humanity' vision. Under his previous leadership, he drove record sales and market share growth in North America, managed a $12.6 billion investment in the Georgia Metaplant facility, and expanded his responsibilities to include Europe, India, Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific markets. Muñoz previously served at Nissan as Chief Performance Officer and Chairman of China and North America operations.
