DataTree has traditionally provided a wide range of actionable information on properties, including owner’s name, valuation, Assessor’s Parcel Number (APN), parcel and plot lines, flood zones. It also provides deep detail on ownership, taxes and liens. This new enhancement allows users to access 360-degree views of properties by tilting or rotating the satellite imagery to get a better understanding of the contours and elevation of the site’s terrain. With the new functionality, DataTree users can search single or multiple properties; compare 2D and 3D views; select different information overlays, such as parcel lines and flood zones; and use scaling, compass and pin features to better assess properties and expedite searches.
With 2D and 3D oblique technology, users only get a partial, flat view of the parcel and surrounding area. The new 3D mapping feature helps users identify the contour of the terrain, providing greater insight into whether a lot is buildable or not. For example, a 2D-only view might obscure a steep slope or a drop-off that might make the site unsuitable for building. The new 3D functionality allows users to visualize the contours of an empty parcel of land or what the land surrounding an existing structure looks like in terms of slope and elevation.
