Spin for a Veteran event benefitting Homes For Heroes Foundation raises $750,000; building seven more homes for homeless veterans
On November 6-7, Canadian Pacific (CP) held its fifth annual Spin for a Veteran event, raising over $750,000 for the Homes for Heroes Foundation, which builds affordable housing for homeless veterans. Since its inception in 2017, the event has generated more than $2.275 million and enabled the construction of 35 homes. The Calgary Police Service took home the award for the longest distance rode, while CP Heavy Haulers raised the most funds. CP is committed to supporting the veteran community, further evidenced by its sponsorship of the upcoming Winnipeg Kinsmen Veterans Village.

Fourteen teams participated in the 24-hour spin competition this year, riding more than 10,000 kilometres, an equal distance from the North Pole to the Equator. The Calgary Police Service won the award for the longest distance rode, and the CP Heavy Haulers won for the most funds raised.

In May 2022, Homes For Heroes and CP announced that CP would be recognized as the Resource Centre sponsor for the Winnipeg Kinsmen Veterans Village. The village will begin construction in early 2023 and open by the summer of 2023.
