Circular Protocol, Arculus and IT Lab Launch the First Blockchain Compliant Ecosystem for Healthcare Providers
Circular Protocol has announced a groundbreaking partnership with Arculus by CompoSecure (CMPO) and IT Lab to create the first blockchain-compliant ecosystem for healthcare providers. The initiative focuses on enhancing digital transparency and protection in global healthcare through blockchain technology.
The system integrates Arculus Authentication into Circular's MedTech device, providing healthcare facilities with physical cards containing private keys. These cards enable authorized personnel to digitally sign procedures and transactions on the Circular blockchain through a simple tap-to-computer interface.
Through the partnership with IT Lab, over 8,000 Italian pharmacies will record medical exams on-chain via the 'Smart Share' white label platform. The system is set to launch in both Italy and the U.S. market in Q2 2025, requiring no cryptocurrency or wallet ownership. The initiative aims to create a decentralized, secure healthcare system while maintaining standard clinical exam costs.

Insights
CompoSecure's strategic partnership with Circular Protocol and IT Lab represents a significant expansion of the company's Arculus Authentication technology into the healthcare vertical. This integration creates a blockchain-based security solution that addresses critical healthcare needs while opening a substantial new market for CMPO.
What's technically innovative here is the implementation approach. By using CompoSecure's physical security card as the interface for blockchain interaction, they've created a solution that's both highly secure and user-friendly - eliminating the need for healthcare providers to understand cryptocurrency or maintain digital wallets. This addresses one of the primary adoption barriers that has historically blockchain's penetration in traditional sectors.
The partnership's commercial scope is substantial, with the initial deployment targeting 8,000 Italian pharmacies through IT Lab's established platform. The promised Q2 2025 rollout for both Italian pharmacies and the US market provides a clear timeline for potential revenue growth.
While the article doesn't disclose financial terms, this partnership represents exactly the type of commercial application that could drive meaningful revenue growth for CMPO beyond its core financial services market. The healthcare industry's strict requirements around data security, privacy, and fraud prevention align perfectly with the capabilities of CompoSecure's technology.
This partnership positions CompoSecure to capitalize on an underserved aspect of healthcare digitization: the authentication and verification of clinical procedures. By integrating their Arculus technology into Circular's MedTech devices, CMPO is addressing a genuine pain point in the industry - creating immutable, secure records without disrupting existing workflows.
The implementation in 8,000 Italian pharmacies is particularly strategic. European pharmacies are increasingly serving as frontline healthcare providers, performing basic exams and procedures. This partnership enables these transactions to be recorded securely on-chain while maintaining the same cost structure as standard exams - creating adoption incentives through added security rather than price increases.
What's most compelling is how this solution distributes the healthcare burden to appropriate access points while maintaining security. Pharmacies can offer proximity and convenience while hospitals handle more complex cases - all using the same secure authentication system. For CompoSecure, this represents not just a new market but a potential industry-wide ecosystem where their technology becomes the standard verification mechanism.
The Q2 2025 US market entry timing is ideal as American healthcare continues to seek solutions that improve security without adding complexity. By establishing their system in European pharmacies first, CompoSecure and partners can refine the implementation before tackling the more fragmented US healthcare market.
The Circular blockchain delivers infrastructure to build the first digital network for on-chain verification and authentication of medical records and transactions
BOSTON, Mass, and SOMERSET, N.J., March 20, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Circular Protocol today announced a new commercial initiative with two leaders in the security and software space, Arculus by CompoSecure, and IT Lab to step up digital transparency and protection in the global healthcare industry.
As healthcare becomes increasingly digital and interconnected, verification and authentication of patient records and healthcare data are essential for ensuring data accuracy, protecting patient privacy, and preventing fraud.
Today’s announcement delivers an advanced solution that will integrate into clinical networks and serve as the secure passkey for recording, managing, and safeguarding critical healthcare data within facilities using the MedTech device.
The Circular blockchain is building the first digital network for on-chain verification and authentication of medical records and transactions. Integrating Arculus Authentication, by CompoSecure, into the company’s MedTech device, healthcare providers will create a physical card (which holds a private key) for hospitals and healthcare centers, to allow authorized administrators, operators, and patients to digitally sign off procedures, exams and other transactions, directly on the Circular blockchain, simply by tapping the card to their computer. The card can be used in clinical networks, as the key to record, own and protect all data regarding programs and activities of the facilities utilizing the MedTech device.
“Tech needs to be invisible and easy to use while delivering the benefits of secure and immutable records on a public registry, so the rights of medical institutions and patients are protected, and their data safely stored,” said Dr. Gianluca De Novi, Founder and CEO at Circular Protocol.
“We are excited about this partnership and where blockchain and healthcare converge to set a new standard for data protection,” said Dr. Adam Lowe, Chief Product Officer at CompoSecure. “This is an exciting future where patients have true ownership and seamless and secure access to their medical information.”
Circular is also partnering with IT Lab, an Italian software powerhouse specialized in the healthcare sector. More than 8,000 pharmacies in Italy will record on-chain the exams they are allowed to perform on-premises, becoming safe and transparent providers of medical procedures. The recording takes place via their ‘Smart Share’ white label platform, already available in all pharmacies running the proof-of-concept (POC) for the first few months, with no need to own cryptocurrencies or a wallet. The rollout is expected in Q2 2025. The launch is designed to be the first truly decentralized, secure and transparent healthcare system of its kind. Costs are the same as a standard clinical exam, but with the added value of proximity, and all the blockchain-generated benefits.
“We are evolving healthcare towards a future where each touchpoint is monitored and where the burden of exams and treatments will be redistributed and performed where it makes the most sense, from a cost, proximity and competence perspective, empowering pharmacies, as well as hospitals, in full transparency and security for operators and patients”, said Anthony D’Angelo, CEO of ITLab “This will all be accessible via the current interfaces, but certifying patient data becomes, for the first time, the key for tremendous value for the whole healthcare and medical network, and Circular is leading this transformation.”
This ecosystem is expected to launch in the U.S. market in Q2 2025, providing healthcare institutions with seamless blockchain integration. To learn more, visit: https://www.circularprotocol.org
