Highlights of fourth quarter and full-year 2021 results include (note that RevPAR and financial metrics are compared to 20191):
- Domestic systemwide revenue per available room (RevPAR) growth increased by
2.2% for full-year 2021, compared to the same period of 2019, exceeding full-year 2021 guidance by 120 basis points and outperforming the total industry by 19 percentage points.
- Fourth quarter domestic systemwide RevPAR growth increased
13.9% , compared to the same period of 2019, driven by an increase in average daily rate (ADR) of9.5% and a 210-basis-point increase in occupancy levels versus fourth quarter 2019. RevPAR growth surpassed 2019 levels for the last seven months of 2021, a trend that has continued in the first quarter of 2022.

5.01% and reached5.04% during the fourth quarter of 2021.

Development
- The company awarded 239 domestic franchise agreements in fourth quarter 2021, a

Non-GAAP Financial Measurements
The company evaluates its operations utilizing the performance metrics of adjusted EBITDA, adjusted EBITDA margins, adjusted selling, general and administrative (SG&A) expenses, revenues excluding marketing and reservation system activities, adjusted net income and adjusted EPS, which are all non-GAAP financial measurements.
