NEW YORK, May 20, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Owl Rock Capital Group and Dyal Capital Partners today announced the formation of Blue Owl Capital Inc. (NYSE: OWL), a publicly traded alternative asset management firm. Blue Owl is the result of the completion of the business combination with Altimar Acquisition Corporation (formerly NYSE: ATAC). The transaction was unanimously approved by Altimar's Board of Directors and by Altimar's shareholders at an extraordinary general meeting of Altimar shareholders on May 18, 2021.

Blue Owl will offer public investors exposure to two of the fastest growing segments in alternative asset management: direct lending and GP capital solutions. As of March 31, 2021, the combined entity had $52.5 billion in assets under management, of which 91% is permanent capital.  Blue Owl will derive its distributable earnings from fee-related earnings, and as a result, is expected to provide investors with enhanced earnings visibility.

Blue Owl will be led by an experienced management team consisting of Chief Executive Officer Doug Ostrover, a co-founder of Owl Rock, Co-Presidents Marc Lipschultz, a co-founder of Owl Rock, and Michael Rees, founder of Dyal, and Chief Financial Officer Alan Kirshenbaum.
