ABF Freight's Tim Thorne Receives Metzger Award
ArcBest (Nasdaq: ARCB) announced that Tim Thorne, president of its LTL carrier ABF Freight, received the 2020 Herbert Metzger Service Award for his commitment to supporting military personnel transitioning to civilian careers. The award was presented by the Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services during a virtual event on December 15. Thorne highlighted ABF's Teamsters Military Assistance Program (TMAP), which has trained over 500 veterans for Class A CDLs, offering essential job opportunities and seamless transitions into the workforce.

FORT SMITH, Ark., Dec. 18, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- ArcBest® (Nasdaq: ARCB), a leader in supply chain logistics, is pleased to announce that Tim Thorne, president of ArcBest LTL carrier ABF Freight®, has been honored with the 2020 Herbert Metzger Service Award.
The Dixon Center for Military and Veterans Services awarded Thorne for his and ABF's commitment to helping military personnel as they transition to civilian careers.

Through TMAP, ABF creates job opportunities for military personnel transitioning to civilian careers by training them for their Class A CDLs. Training is available at Fort Carson, Colorado, and Fort Riley, Kansas, and involves a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training. So far, over 500 veterans have graduated from the program.
Eric Zuhlsdorf, a retired lieutenant colonel in the Air Force and a TMAP graduate, praised ABF and the program.
"The TMAP program for me was a seamless transition from the structure of military life into the civilian world," Zuhlsdorf, now an ABF road driver, said during a virtual event honoring Thorne. Earlier this month, ABF was recognized as a 2021 Military Friendly® Employer.
